The Branimir Slokar Academy is the result of the implementation of the project Connecting through music, designed by the Association Delavnica for the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012.
Young musicians are given the access to a broad variety of musical knowledge for soloist, chamber and orchestra performance, and the possibility of giving concerts at different stages in Europe within the orchestra academy, knowledge about the preparation for professional life, auditions and the very important interdisciplinary work. There is an emphasis on the encouragement of musician’s mobility and intercultural dialogue.
As an addition to the work with the finest musicians, soloists and professors, the participants can daily visit the events within the Ljubljana Festival, listen to the concerts of the master classes' professors, guest orchestras, and see ballet, operas and other world famous productions.
The Academy is named after a world class musician, trombone virtuoso, and excellent soloist and at the same time a devoted pedagogue, Branimir Slokar.
The master classes on orchestral instruments, concert masters and conducting are along with Branimir Slokar lead by his colleagues, excellent musicians with a rich orchestral and soloist's career and outstanding pedagogues from prestigious European music educational institutions, reaching to the top of the world of classical music. The Branimir Slokar Academy offers the young musicians a possibility of knowledge improvement and contact with these versatile personalities in excellent conditions and a relaxed but extremely creative work atmosphere.
