Mladen Đorđević (Belgrade, 1969) graduated from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 1990, and obtained his Master’s Degree in 1993 from the class of professor Dimitri Angelov. He also attended master classes of Pierre Thibaud in Nice.
He received numerous First Prizes on Republic and State competitions. In 1988 he was a finalist and in 1991 he won Third Prize at the Music Artists’ Competition in Zagreb.
Since 1991 he has been engaged as solo trumpet of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, becoming one of the leading trumpet soloists on the Balkans in following years. He performed as a soloist on many occasions with the Belgrade Philharmonics, including a tour in China in 2000 (compositions of Tomasi, Haydn, Hummel, J. S. Bach, Arutjunian).
He has been teaching at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade since 1995, at the Academy in Cetinje since 1998, and at The Faculty of Music in Novi Sad since 2006.
Up to now, Mladen Đorđević has performed as a soloist with all most renowned orchestras of Serbia (Belgrade Philharmonics, Symphony Orchestra of Serbian Radio and Television, Military Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Niš, St. George Strings, etc.), Skopje Philharmonic Orchestra. He has recorded for radio and TV. In his discography outstand CD recordings of Concerto for Trumpet and Trombone of Ivan Jevtić and Apocalypses of Saint John the Theologician composed by Jugoslav Bošnjak (for RTS) and as a guest solo appearance on the CD of French trumpet player Eric Aubier and Belgrade Philharmonics in Jevtić’s Divertimento for Two Trumpets (for Harmonia Mundi).
In 2004 he formed the Jazzical Quartet (trumpet, piano, double bass and percussions). The ensemble had concerts in Paris, Belgrade and Niš, performing famous and demanding Clod Bolling’s piece Toot Suite, Ante Grgin’s jazz suite Laura an M. Garson’s Jazz Variations on a Theme by Paganini. This ensemble has recorded a CD in 2005.
Mladen Đorđević is a dedicated performer of compositions from 20th century, as well as contemporary Serbian pieces (Božić, Bošnjak, Despić).
For his artistic achievements he has received a Golden Medallion of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and Silver Medal of the University of Arts in Belgrade.
