Slobodan Gerić completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies and received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade from the class of Nebojša Ignjatović. He attended master classes which were held by Ludwig Streicher (in Vienna) and Francesco Petrachi (in Sienna). He has performed as soloist with the Belgrade Philharmonics, Symphony Orchestra of Niš, Symphony orchestra of Klagenfurt, Belgrade Strings Orchestra Dušan Skovran, Ljubica Marić Orchestra, and Youth Philharmonics Borislav Pašćan. He won the Award of Music Artists of Serbia for the best concert in 2007, several First Republic and Federation awards, as well as October Prize of the City of Belgrade in category for students in 1984 and in Belgrade Strings Orchestra Dušan Skovran in 1991, and the Award of the City of Belgrade for the best concert in 2006, with St George Strings and under artistic direction of Gordan Nikolić. As a member of various ensembles, he performed in various countries abroad (USA, China, Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Spain, Greece, Ukraine, FYR Macedonia, Slovenia). He performed as a solo double bass player within Belgrade String Orchestra Dušan Skovran 1985-1992, as well as the leader of double bass section of Belgrade Philharmonics 1994-2007. He is currently engaged as solo double bass at St George Strings and Camerata Serbica Ensembles. He regularly performs as soloist and chamber musician with Balkan Chamber Academy and Ensemble for New Music. He is also a member of the ethno jazz ensemble Ognjen and Friends. He is active as pedagogue, working at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. His numerous students are active double bass players in Serbia and abroad.
